Addressing our future for LCM Associates and Affiliates

16 August 2017 | General Interest

Little Company of Mary Associates and Affiliates

From inception, the Little Company of Mary, Province of the Southern Cross Associates and Affiliates have been formed, developed and led by an LCM Sister. As this is a time when the Province is seeking future directions and more empowerment of lay people associated with them it has become necessary to begin a transitional time of lay leadership for the LCM Associates and Affiliates, Province of the Southern Cross. In July 2017, the leadership and development of the LCM Associates and Affiliates, Province of the Southern Cross, has been transitioned to lay leadership. It is also a time to begin to develop further leadership opportunities within the LCM Associates in general with a longer term view.

During this transitional time the role is a shared role with the 2 key areas of:

1. Spiritual Formation, Relationships and Pastoral Care of Associates and
    Affiliates (Anne Doyle)

2. Strategic Vision, Implementation of New Pathways and Resource Development
    (Suzanne Sherry)

There will be times when the 2 components of the role work collaboratively as one to achieve an integrated approach with optimum outcomes of development and growth for sustainability in the future.

Profiles: Suzanne Sherry
Suzanne grew up in Melbourne, Victoria. Suzanne has an extensive and diverse background in education, healthcare, leadership and management and formation. Her entire work focus has been within catholic ministry in both employment and volunteer roles.

Her initial years were as a teacher and school Principal in Catholic Schools across Australia. Suzanne completed her Masters in Welfare and took up key roles in schools to support students with particular needs. Following this she became interested in the living of the mission within organisations and pursued extensive post graduate studies in this area. Suzanne then moved into a Director of Mission role in Catholic Health Care where she worked for the following 10 years in both pathology and a large catholic hospital in Perth for St John of God Health Care. She was a member of the Executive team in both these roles. Following this, Suzanne then took on a role with St Vincent’s Health Australia to develop policy, strategy and formation programs for all staff within the St Vincent’s National Health group.

In January 2017, Suzanne came to the Little Company of Mary as the new Pathways Co-ordinator to explore ways in which the charism and spirituality of the Little Company of Mary can be expressed and lived into the future. Suzanne has a passion for seeing our mission enlivened in the everyday moment. Suzanne has now added to her Pathways role this shared role of co-ordination of the LCM Associates and Affiliates.

The key part of Suzanne’s role with the Associates and Affiliates is to review it through strategic eyes for future success and to review and revitalise all resources for the contemporary world in which we live today, while honouring tradition.
