Joint Jubilee Celebration for Sr Mary Glowrey LCM – 70 years (Platinum) and Sr Anne Sheridan LCM – 50 years (Golden) – 25th October 2020

On Sunday 25 October we awoke to a beautiful spring morning, the birds were happily enjoying themselves under the trees with the watering system spraying away. The walkers and the dogs were also enjoying the quiet atmosphere. The cars began arriving from midday and the pace smartened up. Families were arriving. Covid 19 precautions were all in place in the chapel for the celebration of our jubilees.

Our recently installed Archbishop Patrick O’Reagan, Fr Ben Hensley OP – chaplain to Calvary, Fr Paul Rankin OP parish priest, and Fr Chris Mcphee MSC – Mary’s cousin, celebrated our jubilee mass.

The Director of Mission for Calvary Adelaide, Susan Holoubek, and her husband Charlie organised the music for the mass, and as there was no singing allowed by those attending (due to Covid). Sue, Charlie and Sr Majella rsj, a friend and colleague, sang the liturgy. It was a great celebration.

During the liturgy Sr Kathleen invited Anne and Mary to renew our vows. It was truly special and a moving experience to be back in the chapel after some extensive renovations, and it was also the first mass in the chapel since the nation-wide lockdown.

New South Wales opened up their borders just in time so that our LCM Sisters and some of Mary’s family, including her sister Joan, were able to be with us. Unfortunately, Victoria and Western Australia prevented those families from joining the celebration, but all of us were united in spirit.

Following Mass, we gathered in the chapel garden to enjoy some savoury and sweet delicacies organised by the hospitality manager and staff from Calvary North Adelaide.

We are grateful for all we have received in our lives as LCM women, and we would like to thank all of our LCM Sisters for your prayers, support and good wishes for our jubilees. We believe we have been truly blessed.
